Frotchery farms team was invited to a program themed: “attracting and retaining youth in agriculture” anchored by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture Youth Agripreneurs for the serving corps members held on the 20th of September 2017 at International conference centre, IITA, Ibadan Frotchery team. Hammed Oni of Frotchery farms shared their entrepreneurship journey and also encourage the youth to explore opportunities which abound across agribusiness value chain.
The workshop have high profile dignitaries in attendant which include; Director General IITA- Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, Deputy Director General, Partnership for Delivery, IITA- Dr. Kenton Dashiell, Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Oyo State- Honourable Yomi Oke, NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) Coordinator, Oyo State –Mrs. Mariam Umogha who represented the State Coordinator, NYSC Oyo State – Mrs. Ifeoma Anidobi, Mr. John Agboola of “YPARD”, Nigeria and Mrs. Jacinta Uramah-Eze (Founder, GLA) who is one of the Agro Testimonials for the day along with Mr. Hammed Oni of Frotchery Farms Limited and Mr. Adenuga Adeniyi of Tepebo International Limited.
The Director General of IITA, Dr Nteranya Sanginga challenged Youth Corps members to come up with innovative ideas that can be supported and out-scaled for job creation and engagement in agribusiness. The focus of the seminar is centered around youth involvement in agriculture irrespective of their discipline and get experience from fellow young people already involved in agribusiness for empowerment and job creation. The NYSC Oyo state Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development coordinator, Mrs Mariam Umogha commends IITA for encouraging and supporting youth to engage in agriculture and also stated the commitment of the government to ensure youth corps members acquire necessary skills and empowered especially along agricultural value chain.
